Forgiveness
Monday April 9, 2007
(Our next meeting will be Monday May 14th)
Matt 6:14-15
Mark 11:25
Colossians 3:13
Tonight we talked about forgiveness, it started out slowly but there was an outpouring of the Spirit. Bringing up events in the past may signal that there is unforgiveness. We've all heard someone (ourselves?) say, "I can forgive, but I won't forget!" Sometimes forgiveness is a process, not a one-time event. We may have to forgive over and over. If you forgive quickly, you will prevent a grudge from forming (and it is a lot easier to forgive immediately).Matthew 18:21-22
Acts 7:54-8:1
When a king greets someone, he always sits down. The king is always seated on a throne as the subject enters to meet the king. In this passage, Jesus was so pleased that he was standing.
55But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
As he died, Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit and forgave the people who were stoning him.
