The Tabernacle Part 2 Thursday January 12, 2006

Correction: There were 3,000,000 but the count in the Bible probably didn't account for women and children. This 3 million figure also included Levites who weren't accounted for.

The time it took to construct the Tabernacle was 9 months.

The colors and materials all have specific meaning.

There were 60 posts around the courtyard (multiple of 5). The linen fence was 5 cubits high (approx 8.5 feet). Five symbolizes the number of man. Five fingers and toes, and so on.
Inside, the 60 pillars were made of accacia wood, and covered with brass. Brass speaks of God's judgement of man. They also had a silver cap. That stands for redemption. The white linen was of one piece. The gate way 30 feet wide.

The Courtyard
Exodus 38:9, 16-18
1. The Fence

There were 60 posts around the courtyard (multiple of 5). The linen fence was 5 cubits high (approx 8.5 feet). Five symbolizes the number of man. Five fingers and toes, and so on.

2. The Gate
. The white linen was of one piece. Even Jesus outer garment had no seam. The gate way 30 feet wide. The gate was on the East. Most of the false gods were worshipped by facing the east. In order to enter the Temple, you would have to turn your back to fhe false gods and enter. The width of the gate shows that all could enter. it was sufficient and lovely as our Lord is. John 14:6 There are no steps, thus no work needed to enter. The gate curtain was curiously wrought Psalm 139:15


3. The Brazen Altar
Exodus 27:1-4
The four sides are the manifestation of Christ on earth. Six is man not dealt with by God. There were three types of acacia wood, one type was a gum, used as medicine (healing), another a tonic (sustenance of Christ). It was covered inside and outside with brass. The word altar means high place. The four horns were for tying unwilling sacrifices. They were sprinkled with blood (Gospel to the four corners of the earth).

There were 5 utensils.
The brazen laver
Exodus 30:17-20
This is where they would wash themselves. This represents sanctification. Once they were washed, after the initial washing when they were consecrated as a priest (which only occured once), they would wash themselves.
