Thursday June 29, 2006

We will meet the first and third Thursday in July (6th and 20th) and we will not meet during August.

Ephesians 4:1-7

The first three chapters set our focus, and chapter four starts with living your life by the calling you receive. In verse 1, the word axios refers to value and that is why it is translated as worth.

In that time humility and weakness were not desirable characteristics. Isaiah 57:15
God lives with those who are contrite and holy in spirit.

The value that Paul was talking about was that God created us and His love for us makes us valuable. And that value or worth is not dependent on our spiritual gifts.

The humility and gentleness allows the Holy Spirit to do His work.

2 Corinthians 12:10

Philippians 3:7-8
Everything is garbage or junk as compared to knowing the Lord. As soon as you become saved you have a fellowship and a relationship with the Lord.

John 17:20-24
God loves us the same way that he loved Jesus. It is an overwhelming love and affection. Every child of God can have a close walk with the Lord and the things that come along with that. When things happen, the supernatural, it should direct our gaze upon the Lord. In the scriptures the average person had supernatural things happening to them. In that way, the Kingdom of God is established on earth.

Unrelenting Prayer a book about the passage we are studying today. Persistence is a big part of what the Lord wants us to have in prayer. We shouldn't lose heart.

Luke 11:5-13

Sometimes during conferences or even in personal times with God, we don't feel things. It doesn't mean that God isn't there. God has other ways of showing us what is happening, it doesn't have to be physical.

Ephesians 3:16-21

The source of our strenght is through His Spirit in our inner beings. There is a battle between our natural man and our spirit. The three part nature of man (click here).

2 Corinthians 4:16

A contrast between our bodies and spirits. The body is wasting away, and the spirit is being renewed. The Holy Spirit reminds us of Gods word, shapes our character and unites us in Christ.

The word dwell in the original Greek is katoikeo {kat-oy-keh'-o}.

We need power to grasp that love (verse 18). The word used is power or comprehend and in the Greek it is katalambano {kat-al-am-ban'-o}.
